In a highly anticipated clash, Northland FC hosted Liberty FC for the first time in their home Derby on July 13, 2024, at 1 PM. Liberty came out swinging, with Yasser scoring an early goal in the 3rd minute. But Northland quickly regrouped, showing their resilience and tactical prowess.

Cole's goal in the 17th minute was a turning point, igniting the crowd and shifting the game's momentum. The back-and-forth action had fans on the edge of their seats, with Northland slightly dominating possession. This control paid off when Gui Gomes found the back of the net in the 42nd minute, sending Northland into halftime with a well-deserved 2-1 lead.

Northland continued to press in the second half, with Gui Gomes scoring another beauty in the 52nd minute, widening the lead to 3-1. The summer sun was unforgiving, and fatigue started to set in. Chris Martin managed to score yet another goal for Northland, but Liberty's Esa quickly answered back, making it 4-2.

After a crucial water break, Liberty returned to the field with a renewed fighting spirit. Northland found themselves under relentless pressure, and Esa took full advantage, scoring twice in quick succession in the 73rd and 79th minutes to even the score at 4-4.

The match took a dramatic turn when Esa, the hero of Liberty's comeback, received a red card for punching Northland's Collin Bray following a heated challenge. This moment of madness left Liberty a man down, casting a shadow over an otherwise thrilling encounter.

Despite the controversial ending, the Derby was a spectacle of skill, determination, and drama. Both teams showcased their strengths, making this match one for the history books.

TL;DR:

Goals:

- Liberty FC: Yasser (3’), Esa (62’, 73’, 79’)
